Description:

Parent Coaches report directly to their Program Supervisor. Working in a hybrid model – both virtually as well as in-person across New York City – they partner with families to deliver the Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up (ABC) program. The parent coach provides positive, in-the-moment feedback to help the caregiver develop new patterns of responsive parenting. They ensure that all families referred to the ABC program receive high-quality support, and that all efforts are consistently documented and tracked within Power of Two’s data system.

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include:

ABC Delivery

  • Prepare for and facilitate in-home and virtual sessions for a caseload of 10-15 families
  • Deliver ABC content and explaining research on the intervention in an accessible, engaging way to support development of responsive parenting skills
  • Provide feedback, both in-the-moment as well as via video clips, to highlight caregiver’s strengths and celebrate changes in their behaviors
  • Work to establish trusting relationships, whether sessions take place virtually or in the family’s home
  • Maintain consistent engagement of all families on caseload, partnering with supervisor and referring agency as needed to support family participation
  • Commute to and from each family’s home via public transportation within the five boroughs
  • The PC’s schedule is 35 hours per week, and will include nights and weekends in order to accommodate family schedules. In-home ABC will require travel across New York City.

Administration

  • Clip and store session videos for supervision and review with caregivers
  • Enter weekly sessions, communications, and case notes in an accurate and timely manner via Efforts To Outcomes (ETO) and Connections
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date calendar, inclusive of all required tasks, sessions, and meetings

Supervision + Professional Development

  • Prepare for and actively participate in three forms of weekly supervision – program, clinical, and ITM – to receive support in all aspects of ABC delivery
  • Monitor progress on all individual-level metrics to obtain ABC certification in both the infant and toddler model
  • Engage in reflective practice, raising challenges and questions to supervisors, seeking feedback, and pursuing professional development to ensure high-quality and culturally sensitive support of families
  • Participate in mandatory training and meetings related to the program to build and maintain current knowledge base

Qualifications:

A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required, along with at least two years of professional experience in community outreach and/or direct work with families and young children. We seek candidates who are self-motivated and have strong organizational skills; Parent Coaches must be strategic in their time management. Experience with data entry and comfort with or willingness to learn technology like Zoom, iMovie, and Google Suite is appreciated.
