Description:

  • Conduct weekly 90 minute home visits with each family.

  • Create and maintain respectful partnerships with families.

  • Travel to family home and deliver health, educational, nutritional and child growth and development information to parents via weekly meetings.

  • Provide support in parent and child activities that encourages developmentally appropriate activities for the changing needs of infants and toddlers.

  • Help conduct bi-monthly socializations for infants/toddlers and their primary caregivers.

  • Develop and utilize lesson plans (using Parents-As-Teachers curriculum & Creative Curriculum) which reflect both mandated elements and parental and cultural influences, and which promote the social emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Start children.

Responsibilities:

  • Must be willing to travel within the Queens area daily/weekly (mostly around Corona) and at times work in an office at our Headquarters location in Richmond Hill.
  • Plan and attend weekly home visits for up to 12 children & attend socialization groups 2x per month
  • Conducting parent interviews and family needs assessments.
  • Conducting developmental screening and assessments.
  • Providing families with developmentally appropriate activities and information designed to enhance the child's intellectual, social-emotional, motor, and language abilities.
  • Assisting with recruiting and enrolling eligible families in the program.
  • Providing program parents with guidance on home safety, nutrition, effective discipline, constructive play activities, and other related topics.
  • Providing information on community and agency services and referring families to community resources
  • Build respectful, culturally responsive, and trusting relationships with families.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age and a High School graduate
  • Bilingual in Spanish required
  • Have a minimum of a Infant/Toddler Home-Based Child Development Associate (CDA) or comparable credential, or a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education with at least 12 Infant/Toddler specific credits
  • Experience working with children ages 3 months-2 years old
