PDI and QUALITYstarsNY

The NY Early Childhood Professional Development Institute (PDI) coordinates the wide range of administrative tasks and objectives associated with the implementation of QUALITYstarsNY, New York's Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS). PDI manages the work of all QUALITYstarsNY's staff and oversees the diverse array of deliverables undertaken by subcontractors—from program assessments and ratings, to the provision of technical assistance and individualized improvement planning administered to participating sites.

Beyond shepherding the day-to-day or "nuts and bolts" aspects of the work, PDI plays a critical role in anticipating and addressing the longer term challenges and opportunities presented by the development of a comprehensive QRIS. From its early role in spearheading the QUALITYstarsNY field test, to its ongoing work in advocating for and informing the development of a larger early childhood infrastructure, the PDI has played a significant role in incubating and developing this critical statewide policy initiative.

By harnessing the knowledgebase of its large network of experts, practitioners and policymakers, and leveraging its existing relationships to public and private partners, PDI continues to act as a catalyst for realizing the vision of QUALITYstarsNY.
