PURPOSE:

The Jewish Board’s Community Behavioral Health treatment programs provide compassionate, high quality, evidence-based services to individuals and families in the communities we serve.  Our staff use a culturally competent, person centered approach to help individuals and their families develop skills and resources to improve overall functioning, to instill hope, and to strengthen resiliency.  Our programs work closely with community partners to address health disparities in our neighborhoods while also celebrating the strengths and resilience of our communities.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Social Worker/Clinician role is responsible for supplying clinical intervention at an Article 31 licensed school-based satellite clinic for students enrolled in PS 188 elementary and middle school (K-8). As part of a therapeutic team within the Agency, the social worker works closely with supervisor and director to ensure the appropriate treatment and best practice clinical interventions are utilized.

The social worker is responsible for providing trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, evidence-based interventions to clients and families; crisis intervention; advocating for clients/families; and coordinating with other providers engaged in the client’s care to maximize treatment outcomes. The position requires regular and routine interactions with school personnel and development of strong relationships within the school community. This is a 10-month position beginning September 1st-June 30th of each school year.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL EFFORT

The position is based at the school location, PS188. The walk from the nearest train station is 15-20 minutes. The office is located on the 5th floor with limited elevator access.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide trauma-informed evidence-based treatment interventions with children & youth, inclusive of their families and support systems.Modalities include play therapy; individual, groups, family, collateral treatment

  • Crisis intervention

  • Outreach to clients/families to establish care as well as increase or maintain engagement in care

  • Ongoing collaboration and coordination with school personnel to manage acute issues and improve outcomes

  • Care coordination with outside treatment providers/systems with the goal of improving client outcomes

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, e.g. progress notes, assessments and treatment plans, statistics, and other documentation as required by The Jewish Board and other governmental licensing and funding entities.

  • Participate in supervision and training activities.

  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and clinical team meetings.

  • Engage in continuing education and professional development training.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL / TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED / LANGUAGE PREFERENCE:

  • Fluency in Spanish.

  • Takes initiative in building collaborative relationships, confident in setting boundaries, seeks guidance when necessary.

  • Direct practice experience with children and youth.

  • A minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience with similar population/setting strongly preferred. The school serves a high-needs community of immigrants as well as longtime community residents and young people of color.

COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED:

Prior experience with electronic health records and Microsoft Office

VISUAL AND MANUAL DEXTERITY:

Ability to work on computer
