Assistant Teacher

Description:

La Peninsula Community Organization, Inc. is looking for Teacher Assistants.  The Teacher Assistant is part of the classroom Teaching Team. She/he is the person who collaborates and assists the Teacher in providing developmentally appropriate and positive learning experiences for 3-5 year old children in the program. She/he is co-responsible in overseeing the health and safety of the children and in maintaining an environment conducive to the acquisition of skills for socio-emotional competence, physical growth and formation of intellectual concepts.

Responsibilities:

Under direct supervision her/his responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Providing children with guidance and supervision
• Maintaining a clean, healthy and safe learning environment
• Assisting in the implementation of the agency approved curriculum that is consistent with the Head Start Performance Standards
• Assisting in maintaining an accurate and updated recordkeeping systems
• Maintaining and securing all materials and equipment in assigned classrooms
• Assisting in the preparation of quarterly workshops for parents under guidance of the Teacher
• Participating in agency activities to promote professional growth
