$14,040 annually

Monday-Friday 9:00am-1:00pm or 2:00pm-6:00pm (Part Time)

Job Summary:              

This position serves as a Teacher’s Aide for a Grand Street Settlement Early Childhood classroom. Under the supervision of the Site Director the Teacher’s Aide is responsible for assisting with the supervision of all children, implementing classroom activities, works cooperatively with and supporting other classroom staff and volunteers, and assists with the general maintenance of the classroom to insure the health and safety of the children of the program. 

Responsibilities:

The Teacher’s Aide responsibilities chiefly fall within the following core functions, although s/he may perform other tasks as needed:

·        Child Growth & Development: Supervising all children’s indoor and outdoor activities while incorporating positive guidance techniques Planning: Conducting activities that encourage social, emotional, physical and cognitive development in a manner that meets all applicable local, state, and federal standards

·        Program Implementation: Assisting Teacher in completion of attendance, health checks, home correspondence, home visit forms, accident/incident reports, referrals, safety inspections, etc.

·        Family Partnerships: Creating and maintain a positive working relationship with parents, providing positive feedback on child’s ongoing developmental successes and challenges

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • At least one year experience working with children ages 2-5 and families
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules and policy and procedure manuals
  • Must demonstrate timeliness, attendance and most importantly, professionalism
