WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are hiring coaches as group leaders for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten children as part of our after school programs hosted in local Riverdale schools. Our Pre-K Coaches would be responsible for planning and implementing a range of weekly activities tailored for children ages 2-5 years old that promote creative play, sports, and skill development through group instruction. 

We are looking for coaches located in / willing to reliably commute to Riverdale, Bronx. These programs operate Monday through Thursday from 2:45 PM - 5:00 PM. Pre-K Coaches would be asked to commit to working during these hours (6-10 hours per week) and be paid at a competitive hourly rate based on their educational background and prior experience.

COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENT

There is an expectation that all staff will be fully vaccinated prior to starting work with Kids in the Game for these programs. Staff will need to confirm they have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccination prior to an offer being sent to them. Staff will also be required to undergo regular, bi-weekly COVID-19 testing throughout the school year. 

Please note that vaccination and testing mandates are subject to change at any time based on regulations and requirements from the NYC DOE, NY State, CDC, and DOH.

Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Activity Instruction: lead age-appropriate classroom activities in the areas of creative arts, movement/dance, and sports/games with a group of 15-20 children ages 2-5 years old
  • Communication & Classroom Management: lead classroom activities using effective communication and group management tools for pre-kindergarten children
  • Behavior Management: display patience and utilize positive behavior management skills to manage children’s behaviors and respond to their needs

Qualifications:

WHAT WE ARE GOING TO LOVE ABOUT YOU

Our ideal candidate would meet some or all of the following qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in the areas of Early Childhood, Child Development, Youth Studies, K-6 Education, or a related field (or a minimum of 9 college credits completed in an early childhood or child development program)
  • Possess at least two years of prior experience working with 2-5 year old children or in a similar early childhood setting
  • Skilled in creative arts, dance/movement, or physical fitness activities that are appropriate for children ages 2-5 years
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to relate to younger children, work with different age groups, and partner with school staff to support children’s physical and emotional needs
  • Available to work Monday - Friday during after school hours (3 - 5pm)
  • Willing to comply with NYC Department of Health and Department of Education criminal background checks and fingerprinting requirements
