Head Teacher

Description:

Maple Street is a welcoming place committed to social justice where children, families, teachers, staff and the community can be themselves and be loved.
We are looking for New York State Certified Teachers. Teacher’s must have early or childhood experience.

Teachers must encourage play and growth in all areas of development: social, emotional, cognitive, linguistic, physical, and creative.

• Please be comfortable with progressive and radical messes, big ideas and wild fun, controlled chaos and lots of laughter.

• Create a collaborative work environment with their team

• Use kind and caring words with children, families and each other

• Provide a safe, clean, and caring environment for children indoors and outdoors.

• Work with directors and co-teachers to create and implement developmental-interactive, playful, summer camp curricula. Be ready to think on your toes, and build a big bag of tricks!

• Document the curriculum weekly with photos, quotes, and examples of work.

• Get to know children and ensure that curricula are full of fun and learning for every child.

• Be comfortable communicating with parents and caregivers verbally and in writing.

• Report emergencies to the Directors or otherwise designated person in charge.

• Be professional in interactions with children, co-workers, and families.

• Help with assistant teacher supervision and mentoring.
