Cardinal McCloskey Community Services (CMCS) is a not –for- profit social services agency that is the largest provider of Head Start services in the Bronx. CMCS serves more than 2,000 children and families each year and is continuing to grow.
We are looking for a dedicated and caring person with the desire and ability to nurture and teach children between the age of six weeks and three years old. The ideal candidate with have knowledge of recent developments in the field of Early Childhood Education, specifically as it relates to the proper education of children from low-income backgrounds.
Responsibilities:
- Implement integrated quality service delivery in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, DOH’s Articles 47 Guidelines as CMCs’ policies and procedures
- Establish a daily routine that encompasses nurturing and responsive practices. Create an environment that fosters trust and emotional security in students
- Recognize the individual differences and needs of each child’s culture, language, and special abilities
- Enhance children’s understanding of themselves as individuals and in relation to others by planning small group and collaborative work
- Implement adopted curriculums to encourage active exploration, physical, cognitive, and social/emotional development. Utilize developmentally appropriate strategies and individualization to ensure planning, classroom management and adult-child interactions support the growth of the child
- Work closely with the Family Assistant and Family Worker to provide support to the children and their families
- Schedule and conduct home visits along with the appropriate staff member
Qualifications:
- Child Development Associate Credential with specific Infant/Toddler certification
- Associates Degree in early Childhood education with 12 credits in Infant/Toddler development
- Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts with a course of study leading to a minor in Early Childhood Education
- Previous experience in a Head Start Program or other Early Childhood setting with two years’ experience meeting position competencies is valued but not required
