YWCA Northeastern NY is seeking an Early Learning Teacher to join our Early Learning Center team for a full-time position. We are seeking a candidate to work at our Washington Avenue and Schenectady County Community College locations. Both centers are open from 7am to 530pm. Flexible hours are available.

Job Summary/Function:

The function of the Early Learning Teacher is to foster a developmentally appropriate, nurturing and safe environment for our young children six weeks to five years old.

Essentials Duties:

  • Complete assessments and reports for each child
  • Complete assigned classroom paperwork
  • Conduct parent conferences at minimum twice a year
  • Consult with Director/Assistant Director when concerns arise
  • Implement child abuse and maltreatment mandates
  • Monitor educational supplies and equipment needs
  • Prepare and execute weekly lesson plans
  • Supervise children, assist with training new staff
  • When extra services are needed for a child or family, provide family with information or where to find information
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required
  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • CDA or Associates degree in Early Education, BS/BA in Early Education /Elementary Education preferred
  • Minimum three years of experience in a licensed childcare program

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to sit on the floor
  • Lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to go for walks, use stairs and playgrounds
  • Noise level can be loud at times
  • Must be able to physically work with children
  • Must be able to chase after young children
