Senior Level Family Advocate  

Location: Troy, NY

Salary: $20.00/hr.  

Job Type: Full-Time

This Senior Level Family Advocate will be a critical resource for our children and families experiencing trauma and crisis. This position will provide triage services for those identified as being in crisis and needing higher levels of support and intervention from staff and the program. They will utilize their specialized skill set to provide a more intense level of support to families and implement motivational interviewing skills to assess risk factors in a culturally-sensitive and trauma-informed manner. 

Please note: Applicants for this position will be required to complete standard background clearances, which include fingerprints, New York State Child Abuse clearances, a physical, TB Test, a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) search and pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities:

More specifically the Senior Level Family Advocate will: 

  • Provide case management, resources and referrals to families in crisis
  • Commit the appropriate time and follow through to the families 
  • Work collaboratively with family engagement and education staff
  • Work with teaching staff to keep them abreast of the family situation and provide support and strategies when applicable

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:   

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related field 
  • Prior experience working with disadvantaged families in an advocacy role and knowledge of community resources for disadvantaged families
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently  
  • Valid and clean NYS driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle required
