Make sure that the degree program you apply to is the best choice for your needs. There are several issues to consider:

Associate’s degrees (AA/AS/AAS) - If you are applying for an associate’s degree, you need to know whether the program is designed for students who are planning to transfer into a bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) program, or whether it is designed to prepare students for immediate employment.

Articulation/Joint Registration - If you eventually plan to transfer, your transfer can be made easier, with less risk of losing credits, if the college you are going to has an articulation agreement or joint registration arrangement with the college to which you would like to transfer. Ask at the college you apply to.

Certification - If you are hoping to become certified to teach in NYC public schools, it is important to make sure your degree program is designed to prepare students for NYS Teacher Certification. Ask your college for a list of programs that lead to NYS teacher certification.
