JOB TITLE: ECS Mental Health Consultant
REPORTS TO: ECS Assistant Director or ECS-Director
The ECS Mental Health Consultant is responsible for providing early childhood mental health Consultation support to Head Start staff, children and Families. The ECS Mental Health Consultant will provide a broad range of services, including early childhood mental consultation in classrooms, training and coaching staff; screening, assessment and referral services. The ECS Mental Health Consultant will also collect data, maintain records and support compliance according of the Head Start Performance Standards and state regulations.
JOB DUTIES: The Mental Health Consultant
Observe children whose histories indicate, or who are referred for mental health services by their parents, Family Worker or Teacher.
Provide ongoing assessment as needed in the classroom as it relates to data collection.
Assist in the development and implementation of individual strength based behavior plans in conjunction with the child, Head Teacher, Family Worker, parents and other staff/consultants as appropriate; assist in identifying appropriate intervention or referrals.
Provide parent training on children’s emotional development as well as provide workshops and discussion groups around specific mental/behavioral health issues.
Prepare and confidentially maintain all mental health records, report statistics and other data for supervision and funding purposes.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested.
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree required , preferably ins Social Work , Phycology, Counseling or related field
Clinical license highly desirable
Minimum of 2 years direct experience in mental health setting providing prevention services and/ or mental health therapy to children and families.
Bilingual/ English –Spanish strongly preferred.
