Program Overview:
The Early Childhood Career Ladder (ECCL) is searching for a fulltime academic and career counselor. The ECCL is a New York City funded initiative jointly managed by the Day Care Council of New York and DC1707-205. The goal of the ECCL program is to increase the number of certified and accredited early childhood educators in nonprofit community-based settings. The program provides eligible individuals with financial assistance for early childhood education coursework leading to a permanent New York State teaching certification or a nationally recognized accreditation in early childhood education. The program also offers free exam preparation workshops for NY State teacher certification exams and a Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate.
Job Duties Include:
-Assist program participants in the development of their academic study plans.
-Act as a liaison between program staff and academic partners at local universities.
-Assist program participants in navigating the college registration process.
-Empower and assist participants to troubleshoot and overcome the barriers to their education
-Coordinate closely with other team members and attend weekly meetings
-Track student status in data systems and keep student files up to date.
-BA degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Career Counseling, Social Work, or related field
-2 years of related work experience
-Proficiency with data entry
-Bilingual Spanish/English, both written and verbal a plus
-Must be willing to work occasional Saturdays.
