Description:

The Educational Director will provide leadership in child care, curriculum, and educational development for an upscale child care Center that services infants through age 6. The position will be responsible for offering quality child care while providing a fun, educational, enriching experience for each child.

Responsibilities:

The Educational Director will be directly responsible for ensuring full implementation of curriculum by teachers throughout center; overseeing staff acquisition, including recruiting, interviewing and hiring; as well as monitoring of all staff to maintain compliance with all company policies, state regulations and our high standards of performance. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, day-to-day center operations, including scheduling, classroom observations, and touring; staff training and reviews; curriculum implementation and assessment; knowledge of all NYC DOH licensing regulations; knowledge of NYC UPK; and developing, organizing and conducting family and community events that showcase curriculum and programs.

Qualifications:

The Director must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, exceptional organizational and time-management skills and must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. In addition, exceptional customer services skills are necessary along with the ability to be proactive in retaining children and staff in the Center.  The Education Director must:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Hold valid New York State Teacher Certification in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Have at least 2 years’ experience working as a group teacher with children under the age of 6.
  • Have a professional and neat appearance
  • Conduct self in a professional, courteous manner exhibiting strong customer service skills
  • Be a team player, working alongside co-management effectively and efficiently
  • Be a strong leader and able to effectively manage and motivate staff
  • Able to multi-task while remaining organized and completing tasks by assigned deadlines
  • Exhibit enthusiasm and love of working with children
