The Early Head Start program provides comprehensive child and family development services through home visits, center-based classrooms and family child care settings in three programs in Fort Greene, Brooklyn and the Lower East Side of Manhattan.   The program provides family support services and advocacy to low-income, pregnant women and families with children birth to four years old. This position supports effective teaching strategies in the home and in Family Child Care Provider environments that lead to positive outcomes for children within the context of a collaborative relationship with the parent/caregiver and child.

Hours: 17 per week

Responsibilities:

• Implement Practice Based Coaching strategies with Early Head Start Family Child Care Providers Home Visitors and Classroom Teachers.
• Conduct pre-assessments and post-assessments to identify staff strengths and challenges with relevant research-based instruments such as the Home Visitation Rating Scale (HOVRS) and Classroom Assessment, Scoring System (CLASS).
• Coach assigned Providers, Home Visitors and Teachers by utilizing research-based effective strategies based on the individualized needs of each staff member.
• Improve staff's ability to foster school readiness and/brain development in children zero to three years, as documented by improved school readiness outcomes.
• Observe and video staff in provider homes and home visitation settings, implementing identified strategies to enhance staff's skills and techniques.
• Establish and maintain consistent and regular coaching schedules for staff.
• Develop a trusting relationship with staff and support those who are being coached with developing and reaching their goals.
• Assist with developing and modifying the program’s coaching plan as necessary.
• Perform Practice Based Coaching Model within the parameters of the Early Head Start Performance Standards mandates.
• Report to program director and managers on the progress of those that are coached on a consistent basis. Maintain organized notes and documentation of coaching sessions and progress.
• Travels throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn to visit providers and homes of enrolled participants
• Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
