Description:

An ESF Nurse ensures the health and safety of all on-site campers, Team members and visitors; obtains and maintains health records and documents as required by ESF, state agencies and accreditation agencies; administers basic first aid and medications and responds to emergencies as necessary. 

Nurse oversees health and safety for all campers (ages 3 – 16), Team members, and visitors.

 

Must have active nursing license in the state in which you are employed and/or reciprocity in that state if your license is out-of-state.

Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in all ESF Team Trainings as required, as well as pre-camp opening activities
  2. Collect and maintain health records of campers and Team members in accordance with ESF Policies
  3. Monitor, evaluate and follow appropriate ESF health and safety procedures and routines
  4. Monitor health of campers and Team members participating in camp activities
  5. Administer appropriate care in compliance with ESF Standards, Policies, Guidelines and Procedures
  6. Serve as a liaison between ESF Camps and parents/guardians and campers
  7. Understanding of, and ability to articulate and support, ESF Health and Safety Policies and Procedures
  8. Assist parents and Team members with medical and health questions
  9. Educate Team members on health and safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to,; basic first aid, Epi-Pen and rescue inhaler administration and serve as a resource for emergency response procedures
  10. Manage camp Nurse’s office/area; ensure the office/area is clean, organized, and well-maintained
  11. Maintain supply inventory; order as necessary
  12. Work effectively with co-workers, typically one other Nurse on site, as a team and collaborate on various responsibilities
  13. Serve as a positive role model to campers and Team members
  14. Follow the ESF Code and maintain the” ESF Look” at all times
  15. Exhibit ESF Core Values at all times and adhere to all Company Policies
  16.  Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  1. Pediatric  nursing  experience  (required)
  2. Proven success in  working with children and young adults with medical conditions, including but not limited to; food allergies, diabetes, seizure disorders (preferred)
  3. Proven success in working with children and young adults with special needs and/or disabilities (preferred)
  4. Valid license as a professional Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  5. First Aid Certification preferred
  6. Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred
  7. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
  8. A certificate or diploma from an accredited nursing or training program [i.e. an associate’s degree in nursing (ADN), a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing (BSN) or a licensed practical nurse (LPN) certificate] is required

Additional Information:

  1. Ability to push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of 35lbs
  2. Endurance to work outside, in varying temperatures and conditions,  and on your feet for up to 10 hours per day
  3. Ability to respond to emergency situations which may require running (up to 1 mile in some cases) and climbing stairs
  4. Good physical condition which enables candidate to execute all responsibilities associated with this position
