PART-TIME/FULL-TIME

The YMCA of Greater New York reaches half a million New Yorkers through programs that focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  The Prospect Park YMCA is seeking a qualified individual who will be responsible for maintaining a safe, structured, fun and values-based program for child watch participants, ages 6 months – 8 years old.  

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the health, safety and well being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
  • Supervise program participants, administer recreational activities for children and address any issues that may arise with parents.
  • Effectively develop and implement age appropriate, lesson plans daily.
  • Provide a safe, fun and inviting environment for participant in our child watch areas.
  • Work cooperatively with professional staff, coworkers, and other departments.
  • Process new child watch applications, orientations, record emergency medical information and maintain attendance and sign in records.
  • Maintain knowledge of all YMCA programs and services to assist members in selection of services that meet their individual needs.
  • Design and implement age appropriate activities for participants.
  • Communicate with families, on a daily basis, about their children’s strengths and areas needing attention.
  • Actively participate in all training session and designed meetings and special events. 

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; coursework in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of child care experience
  • Current CPR/First Aid/Child Abuse Training certifications.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Excellent hospitality skills.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
