Description:

The Office of Early Childhood at the Archdiocese of New York seeks an Education Director to provide oversight of the Pre-K for All (PKFA) program within one of the Archdiocese of New York school sites in the Bronx. Working in collaboration with the Office of Early Childhood, the Education Director will be supervised by the school building leader and will report to the Associate Superintendent of Early Childhood.

  • Experience with rating expectations of ECERS and CLASS

Responsibilities:

Core Roles and Responsibilities:

Administrative

  • Ensures compliance with the NYC PKFA policy and procedures
  • Handles all paperwork relating to PKFA
  • Consults with the Regional Superintendent and school principal
  • Assesses instructional needs, and ensures PKFA procedures/protocols are followed

Instructional

  • Trains and coaches teaching staff to meet program standards
  • Leads common planning sessions
  • Creates and monitors daily classroom and site schedules
  • Works collaboratively with Early Childhood Instructional Specialists and the Office of Early Childhood to ensure consistency throughout the program
  • Reviews weekly lesson plans
  • Ensures the implementation of Positive Behavior Guidance, as per PFKA guidelines
  • Models and fosters positive family engagement
  • Uses ECERS and CLASS evaluations to plan for and implement ongoing program suppor

Supervision

  • Supervises staff in terms of meeting NYC DOE Program Quality Standards
  • Manages and oversees all pedagogical and curricular aspects of the PKFA program
  • Evaluates staff performance
  • Uses student assessment data to work with staff to meet the needs of all students

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Masters of Education in Early Childhood, or Early Childhood Special Education is required
  • New York State Teaching Certification in Early Childhood is required
  • At least 5 years of experience as a teacher with classroom experience including 2 years of experience as a Lead Teacher in an Early Childhood classroom
  • Experience working successfully in an inclusive and diverse work environment
  • Experience in fiscal management/budget preparations
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred
  • Bilingual language skills preferred
