Planning and Designing Instruction
Child Development-The Lead Teacher shall demonstrate in-depth knowledge of child development (2-5 years), an understanding and appreciation of diversity, and the regular application of developmentally appropriate instructional strategies in accordance with the NYS Learning Standards and SCSD early childhood performance outcomes.
Preparation-As part of the MANOS Instructional Team, the Lead Teacher shall demonstrate appropriate preparation, employing research-based pedagogical practices to design and implement daily learning opportunity plans in cooperation with the Teacher Assistant/Aide and all volunteers.
Parent & Child Development-The Lead Teacher shall demonstrate knowledge of strategies used for meaningful parent and child together (PACT) interactive learning at MANOS and at home.
Instruction
Instructional Delivery-The Lead Teacher shall demonstrate that delivery of instruction is child-centered and results in the active involvement of all children. Shall demonstrate the ability to design learning opportunity plans that respect diverse learning needs to support children’s reading, writing, language/communication, cognitive, and physical growth.
Child Assessment-The Lead Teacher shall implement standardized and program-designed authentic assessment techniques to measure children’s progress in learning and use those results in creating individualized learning activities.
Center-based Management-The Lead Teacher shall complete all assessment/evaluation, attendance and other administrative records accurately and on time. Shall ensure that the learning environment is safe, clean, current, and welcoming to all families.
Professional Responsibilities
Collaboration- The Lead Teacher shall demonstrate effective communication with the MANOS Program Director/Site Supervisor. Shall demonstrate ability to develop effective collaborative relationships with support staff, children, parents/primary caregivers, and partnership agencies in order to meet the learning needs of the children and families.
Professional Qualities- The Lead Teacher shall practice and promote ethical and professional behavior to contribute to the MANOS Program and to positively reflect the professionalism of the partnership: Partners in Learning, Inc., PEACE, Inc. Head Start, Syracuse City School District, and all collaborating agencies.
Reflective and Responsive Practice- The Lead Teacher shall demonstrate that teaching practices are effectively assessed on a weekly basis and adjustments are made as part of a continuous improvement plan.
Professional Development- The Lead Teacher will attend all required Universal Pre-kindergarten staff development trainings and specified MANOS Program staff meetings and workshops.
The Lead Teacher shall comply with the terms and timeline of the most recent Continuous Improvement Plan.
Minimum of two years’ experience engaging children three through five years of age in center and/or home-based settings. Demonstrate evidence of strong communication, organizational, technological, and interpersonal skills to establish relationships with children and their families. Bilingual preferred, Spanish/English
Or
Minimum equivalent of a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or a related field. Evidence of training and/or experience in an educational program based in the United States.
Must be willing to develop a three-year plan to obtain NYS N-2 or N-6 certification.
Foreign Credentials are considered.
